Outward push ... Inward Expression

What is Mandorla Designs?
It's a way for me to create and to speak with actions. I'm a talker, and sometimes it's difficult to shut my mouth. Artistic expression is a way for me to get things out without opening my mouth to say a word. I love it.

Someone recently reminded me that an individual's world view is often reflected in artistic expression. I agree with this and began to think about the purpose of Mandorla Designs. Maybe the purpose is actually bigger than previously thought. I don't push an agenda, I just let my hands do the talking. Since I've started Mandorla Designs, I have learned so much about the world around me, PEOPLE, and PURPOSE. That is to say, I look forward to what tomorrow holds because I'm growing in knowledge and understanding of my outward environment by the simple action of creating. Creation bears understanding and wisdom. I never thought that the purpose of Mandorla Designs would encompass such things. Very interesting. Very Very Interesting.

MTV Gift Lounge

I'd like to give a shout out to The Sampler.
The sampler gives up-and-coming artists opportunities to gain much needed exposure. Recently, I sent some pillows and bags to MTV's gift lounge via The Sampler. I even spotted a couple of items in pictures from the event.
Look in the bag and you'll see one of my Mary Pillows. Whoop!

Heavy Trash Day

I love heavy trash day because it is the time of month that lovely treasures become abandoned by owners. Yes, it's true I have a weakness for junk. Apparently, junk that gets left on the side of the road.

This months findings include:

a store fixture that works great for displaying handbags
a vintage mirror
and a large mostly blank tablet which I use for sketching designs and cutting patterns

What's on that truck ....

It seems to be the time of year that folks are doing cleaning and getting rid of JUNK. Well, if anyone is getting rid of stuff that they deem worthless and junky, shouldn't I be able to get it and use it. Maybe I could even make something something totally legit!!!

Lately truckloads of stuff are being moved out from the house down the street and the dudes won't let me take any of it. I ran down the street, with Edward on my hip, to ask the dudes what they were doing with the "junk" they had pilled up in a mound. They said that they were going to take it to Goodwill. I asked if I could take some of it off of their hands, but they wouldn't give me any of it. How frustrating. I needed some of that stuff. I guess somebody may need it more!

Mandorla Designs

Hi all,

I'm sure that everyone knows that I have recently moved from Gainesville to Houston. It's nice to be back home but, I sure do miss my Gainesville friends. I haven't abandoned my sewing endeavors and in fact things are picking up as I have started focusing in on business marketing and development.

Stay tuned ... for more on MD. If you are interested in looking at current inventory, check out www.mandorladesigns.com
